The management of KIP Mart Tampoi in Taman Tampoi Indah, Johor Baru, has agreed to help Johor SPCA trap the stray cats running around the marketplace, and hand the strays over to SPCA for neutralisation. After that, the cats will be re-homed.
Johor SPCA chairman Dr Edwin Singam, working in collaboration with Noah’s Ark has agreed to neuter 40 strays every month for free.
At the pet adoption campaign, the volunteers have managed to re-home 47 cats since launching the campaign yesterday. The cats were all strays who were found roaming in the Perling wet market. Tomorrow a cat competition will be held in conjunction with the closing of the pet adoption drive.
Besides having pet adoption campaigns, Johor SPCA will also organise talks in schools and getting more malls to follow in the footsteps of KIP Mart in a bid to reduce the stray cat and dog population.
Tunku Puteri Johor Tunku Tun Aminah Sultan Ibrahim, who is a cat lover, was there to show her support for the campaign.
